Everything starts with three facts: your date of birth, your time of birth to the minute, and your place of birth. From these the system derives the Julian day, applies your location's latitude and longitude, and computes the position of each graha along the ecliptic.
The positions are sidereal, not tropical. Western astrology measures from the moving vernal equinox; Vedic astrology measures against the fixed stars, correcting by an offset called the ayanamsa. We use Lahiri, the standard in India. Right now the two systems differ by roughly 24 degrees β which is most of a sign, and the single most common reason a Western horoscope and a Vedic one disagree about your sun sign.
Birth time matters more than people expect. The ascendant moves about one degree every four minutes, so an error of two hours can shift your lagna into the next sign entirely and change every house placement in the chart. If you do not know your exact time, the agent will say so and mark its reading as lower-confidence rather than quietly guessing.
AI is genuinely good at the mechanical part. Casting a chart by hand takes a trained astrologer time; the ephemeris work is arithmetic and a computer does it exactly. AI is also good at recall: it can hold the rules of many classical texts at once and tell you which ones bear on your question, without the fatigue that makes a human skip a step.

What AI is not good at is judgement about your life. A chart shows tendencies and timing; it does not know that you already left the job, or that the marriage under discussion is one you do not want. A good astrologer reads the room as well as the chart.
