What is Vastu AI?

Vastu AI is an AI Vastu consultant that analyses a home or office layout against the principles of Vastu Shastra. You describe the plan and the compass orientation, and it maps rooms onto the Vastu Purusha Mandala, identifies where placements conflict with the tradition, and suggests corrections — usually rearrangement rather than construction.

How a Vastu reading works

Vastu Shastra treats a building as a body laid over a grid — the Vastu Purusha Mandala — with each of the eight directions governed by a deity and associated with an element. The northeast belongs to water and is kept light and open. The southeast belongs to Agni and is where fire, meaning the kitchen, belongs. The southwest is the heaviest quarter and suits the main bedroom and storage. The tradition is remarkably consistent about this across texts.

A reading starts with orientation. Which way does the main entrance face, and where is true north relative to the plan? Everything else follows from that, which is why a compass reading matters more than the drawing being to scale.

From there the agent walks the rooms one at a time: kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, staircase, water storage, the position of heavy furniture. Where a placement contradicts the tradition it says so, names the principle involved, and rates how much it actually matters — because not every deviation is worth acting on.

Northeast — Ishanya
Water, prayer room, open space. Kept light, uncluttered and never used for a toilet or a heavy store.
Southeast — Agneya
The fire corner. The kitchen belongs here, with the cook facing east while working.
Southwest — Nairitya
The heaviest quarter. Master bedroom, wardrobes and structural mass; never an underground water tank.
Northwest — Vayavya
Air and movement. Guest rooms, children who have grown up, and anything meant to be transient.

Remedies that do not require demolition

The most common worry people bring is that their flat is "wrong" and nothing can be done about it. In practice almost nobody rebuilds, and the tradition has always accommodated this. Most vastu dosh has a parihara — a remedy — that works by rebalancing rather than rebuilding.

That usually means moving what can be moved. Shifting the bed so the head points south. Relocating the water filter to the northeast. Clearing the clutter that has accumulated in a corner that ought to be light. Adding a mirror on a particular wall, or a specific plant, or a yantra where the texts prescribe one.

Where a remedy genuinely does require structural work, the agent will say that plainly rather than sell you a substitute that does nothing. And where the deviation is minor enough to live with, it will say that too. Being told a problem is small is a legitimate outcome of a consultation.

What to send, and what you get back

A floor plan photograph is ideal — a phone picture of a builder's drawing works fine. If you do not have one, describe the layout room by room and say which direction the main door faces. The agent will ask for whatever it still needs rather than assume.

You get back a room-by-room assessment, each finding tied to the principle it comes from, ranked by how much it matters, with a specific remedy attached. Ask follow-up questions and it holds the context — you do not re-describe the house every time.

Vastu AI is one of three agents on SanatanAI, alongside the Astrologer and the Pandit. If a Vastu question turns out to be an astrological one — whether a particular period is right for moving house, say — the agents work from the same account and the same chart.

Common questions

Can AI really do a Vastu consultation?

For the analytical part, yes. Mapping a layout onto the Vastu Purusha Mandala and checking placements against the texts is rule-following, and an AI does it consistently and without skipping rooms. What it cannot do is stand in the space and sense it, which is what an experienced Vastu consultant brings to a difficult site.

Do I have to break walls to fix Vastu dosh?

Almost never. Most doshas have remedies that work through rearrangement, placement and correcting the use of a space rather than construction. Where structural work genuinely is the only fix, the agent tells you that instead of offering a token substitute.

Which texts is this based on?

Primarily Mayamatam, along with Manasara and the Vastu material in the Puranas — the same corpus our pandits work from. The reading names the principle behind each finding so you can look it up rather than take it on faith.

Does Vastu apply to a rented flat or an office?

Yes, and rentals are where the remedy-based approach matters most, since you cannot change the structure. The agent focuses on what is within your control: furniture, direction of use, storage, and which rooms you assign to what.

Is Vastu AI free?

You can start free. The Vastu agent and full written reports are part of the paid plans, which begin at ₹49.
